Myriam

There is

in my dreams

an overwhelming unease.

I dance

Recognizing

in my self

A desire for vengeance.

Unbraiding my skin

I am a corpse

exhausted

Blood too full

of ancient poison

to escape.

Notes

This poem was constructed using only words from Myriam Montoya’s poems “Mestiza” and “I Return to the Childhood Garden.”
